Employee Spotlight: Agustina Llambi

What attracted you to IPSASB when you joined?

I was attracted by the opportunity to travel, use my bilingualism, and serve the profession globally through the development of international accounting standards.

Were you surprised by anything once you became an employee?

I was impressed by the diversity of the Board Members, not only in terms of their professional backgrounds, but also their nationalities and genders.

What is your role at IPSASB?

I am a Principal at the IPSASB. I am part of the technical staff that develops agenda papers based on research and analysis for the IPSASB to discuss when developing financial reporting standards.

What does a workday look like for you?

My typical day involves walking to the office, catching up on emails, researching and analyzing technical issues on projects I lead, and preparing relevant agenda papers for the IPSASB to discuss at one of their quarterly meetings.

What’s your favorite part about your job?

I enjoy attending outreach events because they allow me to meet and interact with IPSASB’s stakeholders. These events helped me understand the challenges IPSAS users and preparers face, and the solutions implemented in their journey to adopt and implement IPSAS.

What's the most unique part about working here?

The opportunity to travel the world and connect face-to-face with accounting professionals in the pursuit of strengthening public financial management.

What kinds of resources have you taken advantage of?

Opportunity to take development courses to improve my professional skills.

How has your career grown since starting at IPSASB?

It has allowed me to grow my network and present to 1000-plus professionals about how the adoption and implementation of IPSAS and IPSASB SRS can strengthen public financial management and sustainable development.

What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?

I am a coffee aficionado so I would open a coffee shop.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

My favorite place is Toronto, where my home and family are. Toronto is a cosmopolitan city filled with coffee shops, which is my favorite pastime when I have time to sit and sip a coffee with a book.

How do you spend your days off?

I spend my weekends juggling my kids' extracurricular activities and skiing, our beloved family sport.
